Import your GLP-1 dose history from a CSV file

You can bring an existing GLP-1 dose log into Dial without entering every dose again. CSV import is free on iPhone in Dial 1.3.4 and later. A preview shows the records Dial can read before you save them. You do not need a Dial account or Dial Pro to import.

Keep the original export. Importing transfers records that Dial recognizes; it does not promise to reproduce every field or setting from the app that created the file.

Open the file and check the preview

  1. Save your existing log as a CSV file on your iPhone.
  2. In Dial, open Settings, then Weight and connections, then Import from another app. Choose the CSV file. You can also open a CSV in Dial from Files or the share sheet.
  3. Review the Columns section. Each column shows its heading, a sample value, and the kind of record Dial will read from it. Change any incorrect column choice.
  4. Check the First rows section against your original file. Confirm the medication, amount, date, time, and any weight or side-effect entries.
  5. Read the counts and notices above the columns. Tap Import when they match what you expect, or Cancel to leave without saving the preview.

Dial needs a date column and at least one readable record before Import becomes available. The preview shows the first five rows containing records, not the whole file. Review your history after the import as well.

Which CSV fields can Dial read?

Dial recognizes headings such as Date, Time, Medication, Dose, Unit, Site, Taken, Weight, Side effects, Severity, and Notes. Uppercase and lowercase headings work, and you can correct the column mapping in the preview. Not every field is required for every record. A dose needs a readable medication and amount; weight and side-effect entries use their own fields.

Files must be UTF-8 text, with commas or semicolons separating columns. Quoted fields are supported. If your spreadsheet saved a different file type, export a CSV rather than changing the filename extension. Dial accepts files up to 25 MB.

Check dates and units before importing

An unambiguous date such as 2026-10-16 avoids confusion between month-first and day-first formats. Dial also reads common numeric date formats and ISO 8601 timestamps. For ambiguous dates, it uses clues from the file, then your device's locale when those clues are absent. Check the preview against the original log. A date without a readable time is placed at noon; that is a placeholder, not evidence of when you took a dose.

Doses recorded in mg or mcg import in those units. Entries in units or mL keep their recorded number and unit; the importer does not convert them into mg. Check your weight units too. When a file does not specify a weight unit, Dial uses the weight unit selected in your settings. Correct the file or settings and reopen the preview if the values do not match.

Understand the counts and omitted rows

The preview counts medications, doses, weights, and side effects. It separately identifies doses marked as skipped, rows without a readable date, doses missing a medication or amount, and doses kept in other units. A skipped dose is a record of a dose not taken. It is different from a row the importer cannot read.

Rows without a readable date are left out. Check the completion summary for the result, including duplicates or unsupported records. If an entry is missing, compare it with the original file before adding or correcting anything. An import is a record transfer, not advice about taking a missed dose.

Undo an import

The completion summary offers Undo Import. Use it before closing that summary if you want to remove the records this import added. It removes the medications, doses, side effects, reminders, and weights added by that import, while keeping records that were already present. This is an immediate undo action, not a saved backup or a permanent import-history screen.

Once you have checked your imported history, continue with the medication log guide for recording new entries, correcting mistakes, and preparing a record to share.

What stays free, and what needs Pro?

CSV import and the phone dose log are free. The free tier includes one medication and one reminder, with no cap on dose entries. Dial Pro adds charts, PDF reports, CSV export, and Apple Watch logging. Importing a file and exporting a report are separate features.

Dial reads the file on your device. Optional medication-record sync uses your own private iCloud database. Weight records use separate local storage. The privacy policy explains those boundaries.

Dial records what you enter. It does not prescribe medication or recommend a dose. For a problem with the file or preview, contact Dial support without sending health details you do not want to share.
