Converts on your Mac. Files never leave it.
MOV to MP4 and HEIC to JPG, on your Mac.
Drop a file or a folder, pick the output, click Convert. Press writes H.264 MP4, JPEG, PNG, HEIC, WebP, AVIF, and TIFF through AVFoundation and ImageIO, and nothing is uploaded anywhere.
macOS 15+ · Apple silicon & Intel · native Swift 6 / SwiftUI
One window: a drop zone, a queue, and the output picker.
Output lands beside the source file with a (Press) suffix. The original is never touched, and Press asks once for access to the folder so the sandbox allows the write.
H.264 MP4 that plays where HEVC was refused.
An iPhone on its High Efficiency setting records HEVC, and Finder's Encode action and QuickTime Player both save .mov, which is why a clip that plays on your Mac gets bounced by a Windows PC or an upload form. Press writes .mp4 with H.264 video and AAC audio at Original, 1080p, or 720p, and copies the streams without re-encoding when the source is already H.264.
Press Pro adds 2160p, HEVC output for when you want the smaller file, and size presets: Discord at 20 MB, Email at 25 MB, Slack at 1 GB, or a custom number. Press works out the bitrate from the byte budget and the clip's length, keeps the full duration, and re-encodes once at a lower rate if the first pass overshoots.
WebP out, which Finder and Preview cannot do.
Finder's Convert Image writes JPEG, PNG, or HEIF; Preview's Export adds TIFF and PDF. Press reads HEIC, HEIF, WebP, AVIF, JPEG XL, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, GIF, and BMP through ImageIO and writes JPEG, PNG, and HEIC with a quality slider.
Press Pro adds WebP (lossless at 100 percent, through libwebp), AVIF, TIFF, and a Max size in pixels. Orientation is applied to the pixels before encoding, so a phone photo comes out upright everywhere.
What goes in, what comes out.
Anything AVFoundation opens as video, anything ImageIO decodes as an image. MKV, AVI, audio, and documents are outside this release.
Video in
MOV, MP4, M4V, and the other QuickTime-family files, including HEVC and ProRes sources from an iPhone or a camera.
Video out
MP4 with H.264 or HEVC video and AAC audio at Original, 720p, 1080p, or 2160p. Sources are never scaled up. Size presets for Discord, email, and Slack, or a custom limit. HEVC, 2160p, and size presets are Press Pro.
Images
In: HEIC, HEIF, WebP, AVIF, JPEG XL, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, GIF, BMP. Out: JPEG, PNG, and HEIC free; WebP, AVIF, and TIFF with Press Pro. Quality from 10 to 100 percent where the format is lossy, and an optional max pixel size.
Step-by-step pages for each conversion.
Native and sandboxed.
Press converts video and image files entirely on this Mac. It has no account system, and it does not collect usage data or send anything over the network. The only network use is Apple's own App Store purchase and restore flow.
Free download. Pro is a one-time unlock.
Single-file conversion to H.264 MP4, JPEG, PNG, and HEIC is free, with no cap on how many files you convert one at a time. Press Pro is one in-app purchase that stays unlocked on this Mac.
- Batch conversion: drop a folder and convert everything in it
- Size presets for Discord, email, and Slack, plus a custom limit
- 2160p and HEVC video output
- WebP, AVIF, and TIFF image output, and downscaling to a max pixel size
Prices in USD. The App Store shows the final Pro unlock price for your region.

Does Press upload my files anywhere?
No. Conversion runs through AVFoundation, ImageIO, and libwebp on your Mac. The source has no networking code in it; the only network traffic is the App Store purchase and restore flow, which macOS handles with Apple.
Why does the video from Finder or QuickTime still get rejected?
Both save a .mov. Finder's Encode Selected Video Files and QuickTime Player's Export As can re-encode to H.264, but neither writes .mp4, and an iPhone clip recorded on the High Efficiency setting is HEVC, which an older Windows machine or an upload form refuses. Press writes H.264 in an .mp4, which is the combination those systems expect.
What is free, and what needs Press Pro?
Free: one file at a time to H.264 MP4 at Original, 1080p, or 720p, and to JPEG, PNG, or HEIC, with no cap on how many times. Pro: batch conversion, size presets, 2160p, HEVC output, WebP, AVIF, TIFF, and image downscaling, as a one-time $14.99 purchase.
Does it change my original files?
Never. Press writes name (Press).mp4 or name (Press).jpg beside the source, adds a number if that name already exists, and asks once for access to the folder so the sandbox allows the write.
What happens to metadata?
Video: AVFoundation carries the source's metadata into the MP4 wherever the container has a matching field, except on size-limited exports, which are written fresh through AVAssetWriter and carry none. Images: EXIF, including location, is not copied; the orientation tag is applied to the pixels first, so the picture displays upright.
Which Macs does it run on?
macOS 15 or later, on Apple silicon or Intel, as a universal binary from the Mac App Store.
How do I restore Press Pro on another Mac?
Open Press, go to Settings, and click Restore Purchases while signed into the same Apple Account you bought it with.
Can I get a refund?
Purchases and refunds are handled by Apple. You can request a refund from Apple directly via reportaproblem.apple.com. If a conversion is failing, email support@zentsu.app first. There is a good chance it is a fixable bug.
